INITIATIVES
Adult Learning
We support the community trip to Eastern Europe led by Professor Samuel Kassow as well as the Jewish Hartford Bus Tour, which highlights the geographical and economic path the first Jewish immigrants in Hartford followed. We will offer courses in Yiddish culture, life in pre-war Europe, and highlight the great learning and religious centers, such as Vilna. There will be visits to various Jewish cultural institutions and museums including to the Yiddish Book Center in Amherst and the Jewish Museum in New York City.
K-12 Education
Content from the speaker series and adult learning modules will inform K-12 human rights curricula in Connecticut. This type of work is already taking place at UConn's Dodd Center and being implemented in State of Connecticut schools. Students learn about the Holocaust, but need to also have a better understanding of the vibrant pre-war society that was destroyed.
Speaker Series
A thematically relevant speaker series will include lectures open to the public in various Greater Hartford locations.
